DVD night in Glebe

Dear all,

Our long time member, Leon, has pulled some DVDs from his archives
that he's decided he'd like to watch in the company of of other bi-
friendly folks. With an eye on the plasma TV that Suze & I have in
our living room he suggested that the "screening" could be held at
our place in Glebe.

So this coming Friday (14th) is the night to come along and relax in
front of the screen with some friends.

You'll see from below that there is one film of 110 minutes and one
of about 90 minutes. Given that we also have a projector screen,
depending on the numbers of people that turn up we may be able to run
each of the films in parallel in alternating rooms.

If you'd like to attend please RSVP to either:
treasurer@bi-nsw.org.au , or 0416-070360
and I'll give you the address.

Film(s) will start to roll at 7:30pm so aim to turn up _before_ that!

Feel free to bring your own snacks & beverages.

Regards,
Graham

PS. If you can't make it along on Friday night, you might be able to
get along to the SBN Pub Night on Sunday at the Courthouse Hotel in
Newtown

Film #1

Grande école (2004) In French with English subtitles (110 mins)

Paul and Agnes have been going out for quite a while and Agnes is
shocked
to learn that he'd rather live with two roommates on campus than move in
with her. As soon as he meets one of his roommates, Louis-Anault, Paul's
behavior changes - he is attracted to Louis without realizing so
himself.
Agnes, on the other hand, gets quite jealous and offers a bet: Whoever
gets to have Louis-Anault first, wins... If she does, Paul will no
longer
explore his homosexual desires, if he does - she'll walk away.
Meanwhile,
Paul meets Mecir, a young Arabic worker, who shows him there's more to
life than elite colleges... Written by Wolfgang Schmitt

Film #2 Dante's Cove (A much lighter film from the USA) (90 mins??)

The sexy, young residents of a peaceful beachside town are plunged
into a
world of intrigue, secrets and shifting romantic ties when their town's
sinister, supernatural past comes alive. Fleeing an unhappy home life,
Kevin is excited about moving in with his lover, Toby, at a beachside
apartment complex, the Hotel Dante. However, the young tenants of the
old
hotel soon suspect that its supernatural and sinister past may be alive
and well. Lesbian goth Van, bi party girl Amber, and slacker Cory are
among those who attempt to solve the mystery as the door has been opened
to a world of evil forces that wreak havoc in the hip beach town.

This is now a queer/supernatural soap opera that has run for 3
seasons in
the States. Lot's of eye candy but not much depth!

I got so excited when I read this, before I realised how old the post was! Please tell me that you are organising other bi-friendly movie nights for 2008?

Hey Freddy,
We'll definitely have a few things happening - currently we're getting organised for Mardi Gras Fair Day & Mardi Gras Parade. But look on our web site at www.bi-nsw.org.au for details of the mailing lists you can join that we send emails to when events are being planned.
